Welcome to Uganda that is referred to as ‘’The Pearl of Africa’’ due to her beautiful and attractive creatures it inhabits in her national parks such as Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will see the tree climbing lions. These tree climbing lions are the most attractive to many tourists who visit this Park annually. Queen Elizabeth National Park is also inhabits over 600 species of birds, ten primate species including chimpanzees. Still in the Park, there is a Kazinga channel where you will also see many animals such as elephants, hippopotamuses, buffaloes, crocodiles and you will get involved in many activities while in the park such as game drives, hiking/nature walks, cultural heritage and nature trail plus wildlife research tour.
The Park is one of the mostly visited national parks in East Africa and Uganda, the park has many lodges and camps for the tourists to live in during their tours in Uganda and such lodges include; Kyambura game lodge, Mweya safari lodge, Hippo safari lodge, Ishasha wilderness camp, Jacana safari lodge, Kyambura George lodge and many others and all the lodges consist of a bar, a restaurant and a swimming pool for luxurious times of the tourists.
Uganda covers half of the world’s Mountain gorillas and these primates are only found in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park which itself protects over 400 Mountain gorillas out of the total number of Mountain gorillas which is between 900 and 1000. Other Mountain gorillas in Uganda are also found in Mgahinga national park which also protects almost 200 Mountain gorillas.
These two parks also protect some other primates like monkeys and some birds. The two Parks also have good lodges and camps for tourists to live in during their tour. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park has lodges like Buhoma lodge, Buhoma community Bandas, Clouds lodge, Engagi lodge, Silver back lodge and others well as lodges in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park include Gahinga lodge, Mucha hotel, Kisoro tourist hotel, Amajambere Iwacu community camp and others.
The best place for chimpanzee tracking in Uganda is Kibale national park which inhabits the hugest number of Chimpanzees in Uganda though still in the park you will also view over 300 bird species, 13 species of primates including localized red Colobus, L’Hoest’s monkeys and the endemic Uganda Mangabay plus some mammals such as elephants, buffaloes, giant forest hogs and antelope species thus making it one of the most stunning Parks in Uganda.
Mountain Elgon National Park is also among the best national parks to visit for wildlife tours in Uganda. The Park has the largest volcanic base in the World. Its mountainous regional landscape and cool heights offer respite for humans from the hot plains below and its higher altitudes provide refuge for flora and fauna. The Park consists of over 300 bird species, small antelopes, forest monkeys, elephants and buffaloes which live on mountain side. There are many activities practiced while in the Park including mountain biking, birding, hiking, nature walks, mountain climbing, sport fishing at Sipi falls and rock climbing. The Park consists of various shelters where clients will live in during their visit to the Park; Mbale resort hotel, Sipi river lodge, Lacam lodge, Mountain Elgon hotel, Sipi falls resort, Moses campsite and many others.
Kidepo valley national park is another Ugandan national park with a huge number of bird species next to Queen Elizabeth national park. It inhabits almost 500 birds, 77 mammals including Zebras, Giraffes, Buffaloes and many others and while in the Park you will be able to participate in game drives, nature walks, community walks, mountain hiking, Birding and so on.
Other national parks in Uganda where you can still find various sorts of animals and birds they include Lake Mburo national park, Semuliki national park, Murchison falls national park, Rwenzori mountains national park.
Besides all those parks, Uganda still has many sources of wildlife such as Ngamba Island in Kalangala district which protects chimpanzees plus lakes and rivers which also protect some animals like hippos and crocodiles like in Lake Victoria.
