One of the interesting safaris is when you plan a photography tour to Africa. This can be made successfully on two options either on a self drive or on a one which is guided. In this case, we traveled to Uganda for a photographic tour which was to last for 09 days. We went to two national parks these were Mount Elgon National Park and Kidepo Valley National Park and Murchison Falls National Park. While on this Wild Uganda Safari, we did not only do photography but we also enjoyed the beautiful sceneries that are distributed in these parks.
On our first day of photography, we enjoyed the wilderness that we encountered at Murchison Falls National Park which is located in the north of Kampala and to reach there it took us 4 hours on the way. We started game driving at around 4pm in the evening and this gave us an opportunity to take clear photos since sunshine was at its moderate rate towards setting.
Some of the wildlife we photographed included the lions, leopards, elephants, warthogs, antelopes and monkeys. On the river lines of river Nile, here we found hippos, crocodiles which are the permanent residents and a number of bird species such as, Black-headed Gonaleks, Weaver Birds, Piapiac, Silver bird, , Pied, Eastern Grey Plantain-eater, Giant and Malachite Kingfishers, Black-billed Barbet. These birds did not only add beauty to our photography safari but the soft sounds they were making for us was so interesting
Gorges, emerging rocks, tree species which are not found anywhere else and the splashing river over the cliffs made it a valuable experience. We slept at Sambiya River Lodge and the next day we proceeded to Kidepo Valley National Park strategically located in the Kidepo valley in the north eastern Uganda on Uganda-Kenya-south Sudan boarders though isolated. Here we rested at Apoka which is in the heart of Uganda’s.
Kidepo valley national park is a habitat to most of the African wildlife and the major animals that dominate this park include the lions, African elephants, zebras, giraffes, hyenas, and the loitering herds of antelopes and the unforgettable buffaloes. Since the park is in the semi arid area, the nature of the tree species in this park gave us a wider space to capture our photos from the different animals that are seen in this great valley.
A photographic safari to Uganda cannot be explained to people who have not yet discovered the African nature but the only what I can say is that, this tour left us satisfied due to the different areas of interest which are located in these parks and on the way as one moves towards the park. After having a camping night at Apoka, in the morning we embarked into our Toyota land cruiser which had open roof back to Kampala and this took us 9hours from Kaabong to Kampala. Since the flight was scheduled at 11pm I was taken straight to Entebbe airport catch up time.
