  • Nshongi Gorilla Camp

Nshongi Camp, is the perfect location to start your gorilla trekking, in fact it’s the only place in Uganda and in the world where you can track 5 different Gorilla Groups, Nshongi, Mishaya, Kahungye, Busingye, Bweza. Nshongi Camp is just a few minutes’ walk to the Ugandan Wildlife Service hut, the starting point of the Gorilla tracking. The camp is located few meters from the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in southwest Uganda.

Eco-friendly, rustic and warm, locally own, Nshongi Camp is known as the ideal base for gorilla trekking safaris in Bwindi forest, viewing and birding, several of the 315 birds species,  many of them endemics and monkeys can be seen here. Sometime at night even the bush elephants come close to the camp.

The camp has only 4 double Banda’s, few meters from the rainy forest, camping is possible with your own tent. The camp has just 4 traditional Banda’s and is the perfect place for be connected to the nature or for a romantic stay.

Rooms and facilities

Guests can dine under the stars and relax by the roaring campfire. We serve 3 meals course, and we can prepare lunch box for your tracking. Hot coffee, tea, and drinks are always available.

Rushaga area, is a village inhabited by the Batwa and Bufumbira communities, ask the camp staff to visit their communities for have the opportunity to experience a new culture.

Activities at camp include; gorilla trekking, guided bird watching inside the national park and waterfall, guided Batwa visit, community visit, visit at the local school, tea plantation tour, gorilla dance, and visit to the caves.

  • Gorilla Valley Lodge

Gorilla Valley Lodge is located on the border of the impenetrable forest and set on a steep slope the lodge has a truly unique setting. Imagine waking up with the sounds of the forest, having your cup of coffee or tea on you private terrace, experiencing the forest coming alive and the mist mysteriously giving way for a lush jungle. Gorilla Valley Lodge is located near Rushaga ranger station. Signposts lead the way coming from Kabale Road. In Rushaga take the road on the right leading straight to the lodge.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest on one meter away from your veranda and it feels like you are invited into to home of the majestic mountain gorillas. But these gentle giants are not your host, just your neighbours, occasionally coming out of the forest to spend some time in our garden. This is what makes Gorilla Valley Lodge so special.

Rooms;

Gorilla Valley Lodge consists of 12 en-suite rooms, built on a steep slope, ensuring the best views on Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. All rooms have a private terrace from where to experience the splendour of the forest. Tastefully decorated and equipped with solar water heaters and comfortable beds our rooms ensure a peaceful sleep.

  • Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge

The name Ichumbi is derived from the local Rufumbira dialect meaning ‘ a cool, comfortable home’. The lodging facility is just 10 minutes’ walk to Rushaga gate of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park has a spectacular view of the park right from your room.  It is designed to provide you with high end comfort and relaxation to be able to enjoy your Gorilla tracking experience go birding watching and enjoy forest life surrounded by impressive landscape.

Access from Kigali-Rwanda, is about 4 to 5 hours by road depending on delays spent at border crossing. Access from Entebbe/Kampala, is 8 hours by road. You can also travel by air. Ichumbi Gorilla lodge provides 6 Luxury Cottages and 4 Standard Rooms. Each room has en-suite facilities with hot showers and a private balcony to enjoy the spectacular view of Bwindi forest and beautiful landscapes. Being in a mountainous country side, the lodge harvests rain water which is collected in large water tanks.

Cottages

Hermerkop

These two cottages are inter-joined and there for can be used as a family cottage or a twin/double cottage. It’s suitable for categories of people who love staying near each other and groups simply because it can be change into a double, twin, triple, family among others. It also has nice views of the forest and it’s easily accessible from the restaurant area.

Turaco

Turaco has one of the best views of the Bwindi impenetrable forest either while sited outside the cottage balcony or through the window. It’s also the nearest cottage to the bar and good for those who love spending time enjoying our different bar brands.

Warbler

These two cottages are inter-joined and there for can be used as a family cottage or a twin/double cottage. It’s suitable for categories of people who love staying near each other and groups simply because it can be change into a double, twin, triple, family among others. It also has nice views of the forest and it’s easily accessible from the restaurant area.

Standard Room

These are either single double, single or twin rooms depending on the occupancy. These are more accessible from the parking yard as well as the restaurant.

Ibis

This cottage ignites privacy because it’s secluded from the other cottages and a perfect hide out for honeymooners and lovers. The cottage is also blessed with a glorious wake up call from the melodious birds every morning since it’s close to number of flower gardens and trees not forgetting the mind blowing atmosphere and natural fresh air just outside the balcony of the cottage.

Robin Chat

The cottage is easily accessible from the restaurant and bar with spectacular views of the forest right from your bed. You will be fascinated at the number of bird species that one will see while in this cottage and don’t be surprised when you are woken up by the sounds of the birds early in the morning. Birders can make their cameras and eyes busy while relaxing at the cottage balcony.

Cisticola

Cisticola also has very nice views of the Bwindi impenetrable forest and the agricultural fields of the community on the opposite hill; it’s quite captivating and eye catching. One is assured of privacy, breath taking views and a number of bird species.

At Rushaga you have a chance to see gorillas from 7 Gorilla families namely; Nshongi, Bweza, Busingye, Mishaya, Kahungye, newly habituated Bikingi and Bushaho families. It is also possible to drive for an hour and trek Gorillas of the Nkuringo Gorilla family. There is one Gorilla family in Mgahinga national park (2hours drive from Lodge) which we can arrange for you to track. Other activities include bird watching and forest walks.

  • Rushaga Gorilla Camp

Rushaga Gorilla Camp is haven for trekking within the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a highlight of all visits done in Uganda and a reason why you should visit Uganda. The land is comprised of a mountain, with nice vistas of the Impenetrable forest front and a permanent spring where forest elephants occasionally come down for a drink from the national park.

Driving time from Kampala is about 7-8 hours, while the drive from Kigali, Rwanda is about 4 hours, 1.5 hours from Kabale.
