Are planning to go to Uganda this Christmas festival? It is not yet late and if you want to get a well maintained 4×4 jeep for your self-drive holiday it is only 4×4 Car Hire Uganda that can offer you the best car.
I and my wife last year we wanted to visit Uganda on an escorted trip but we found this safari itinerary of 21 days expensive to our budget and we started thinking on how we can spend our holiday at the relatively affordable price.
But as we are planning this trip with a very reliable company the very friendly and knowledgeable travel consultant “Mike” advised us to take a self-drive road trip with double rooftop tent at $80 USD per day but negotiable and this offers easy accommodation options to you and as we wanted to stay in the wilderness this matched well with our trip desire.
When we arrived at the Entebbe Airport, Mike delivered our 4×4 jeep with the double tent and he oriented very well about the car, tent and all the camping gears that are provided to ease your cooking experiences while in the wilderness. After the orientation we started our long waited amazing journey to the Uganda safari parks and our place of visit was the Kidepo Valley National Park and this is place that one shouldn’t miss while on your self drive in Uganda. While on our game drive trails in this park, we spotted a lot of the wildlife and enjoyed the amazing scenic landscapes.
With our rooftop tent vehicle, we spent quite good number of days in this park and the good camping sites here include the Apoka Camp and Kakaine Camp sites and it was so amazing weather as day time it is hot and then cools in the night.
This park being big and with un predictable water flowing from the nearby mountains you have to take a ranger and these guys are so much experienced as far as guiding about wildlife and what may happen next in the day.
On our last game drive in the Kidepo Park, Patrick told us guys we better drive passed Narus river in short period of time as if we delay, we may not cross and just after few minutes after crossing the river we started hearing the heavy water flow from the mountains and this made our day so wonderful and Patrick was so super knowledgeable about the area.
When you visit Kidepo and the entire Karamoja region you will enjoy the beautiful undulating landscapes of the place and the villages and on our planning to this area the team from the 4×4 Car Hire Uganda advised us that visiting some cultural villages in Karamoja like Lorukur village it is interesting as here you learn more of the culture and how preventive they live from the attack of the wildlife to their life and food crops.
Well talking to Gertrude the representative of the E4P Africa, an indigenous organization that is fostering for Environment, Education, Economics and Energy to reduce poverty in Africa, said that from the proceeds that the mother company generate they do help the communities get seasonal seedlings on time to match with the harvest season and also they organize cultural performances like the one they did for us and they get some funds for the communities and from the loud drumming in these events scares away the animals to move far away from the nearby communities.
After all that on our holiday we drove to Murchison Falls National Park and via the Tangi gate we entered into the park and we arrived on time and we took an en-route game looking for the wildlife and birds. After we drove to the Red Chill Camp and here, we took our first overnight in the park but in our spacious rooftop tent.
Here we enjoyed multiple game drives from various tracks in the park and here what you can’t miss the lions, elephants, leopards, giraffes among others wildlife. From the game drives if you miss be assured that from the amazing boat cruise along the River Nile towards the top of the falls you will spot more animals at the banks of the River.
After being filled with what we had in this park we drove down to Fort Portal via the undulating escarpments and in this region, we enjoyed the scenic view of the fabled mountain Rwenzori and other undulating landscapes. The chimpanzee trekking, Bigodi walk or Sebitoli nature walks in the Kibale Forest National Park are so amazing that you shouldn’t miss while on your cross-country tour in the Pearl of Africa.
Though we had quite so many days in Uganda but our areas of interest were so limited and combining Karamoja, Murchison and the Toroo region offered us all that much that we wanted to enjoy on our self-drive trip in Uganda.
